What is my current form?

What is training form?

Form score shows you your current training condition based on your swim training history.

Its is sometimes called 'training stress balance'; indicating how your recent training intensity compares to what is normal for you.

For each swim activity Simma calculates a training stress score. You recent training stress scores are used to calculate your fitness and fatigues scores which are combined to determine your form score. You training stress score is a function of your FTP so setting an accurate FTP will increase the accuracy of your training stress scores and therefore each of fitness, fatigue and form in Simma.

What is a 'good' form score?

You form score will fall somewhere on the range from -40 to +35.

If you score falls in the range:

  • -40 to -30 you're straining your body and maybe training too hard
  • -30 to -10 you're grinding, a good zone to be in to build fitness
  • -10 to +15 you're coasting, a zone where you can maintain your fitness but not build it
  • +15 to + 25 you're in the taper zone a good zone just before an event
  • >25 and you're wasting or losing fitness

Most people will want to hold themselves in 'grind' if they are training for an event or in 'coast' if you swim for wellbeing and to maintain a base level of swim fitness.
